Miller' Taxidermy was established in 1997.
Owner and Taxidermist: Terry L. Miller
In 1980, I earned a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from NWMSU in Maryville, MO. I continued at NWMSU and earned a Master's of Science in Biology (wildlife emphasis) in 1982. My master's study was entitled, Waterfowl Mortality at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, and was conducted on the 7000+ acre refuge near Mound City, Missouri.
I then worked for the Missouri Dept. of Conservation for the next two years at the 10,000+ acre Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Chillicothe, Missouri. I was in charge of the trapping and banding program for Canada Geese. I also was intensely involved with the hunting program, farming, and various wildlife research projects such as the otter re-introduction.
In 1985, I was hired by Kearney High School in Kearney, MO where I was employed as a science teacher until 2018. I currently teach for the Frassati Academy. So, now for 40 years, I have spent my life educating our youth toward wildlife ecology and conservation. This includes a strong emphasis on the values of hunting and trapping, wildlife management, wildlife identification, and a conservation ethic. I have taken numerous students on birding and nature study field trips and several have become Wildlife and Conservation professionals in Missouri and throughout the United States.
Finally, I am a very devout Roman Catholic. I believe that God created our world as a great blessing for man. As with any gift, especially one from God, it is to be cherished and respected. Not only do I strive to perform quality taxidermy upon my customer's trophies as a part of my Christian ethic, I feel that anything less than my best effort would not be a worthy thanksgiving to our God who created them. My motivation to do quality taxidermy work and to be an honest businessman comes from an interior prayer life that seeks to please God first....knowing that everything else will be taken care of and will fall into place.
